Tis the season for gathering together with friends and family and lifting a cup of cheer or raising a glass for a toast. What’s in your glass should be delicious with the flavors of the season and as festive as the decorations. We will be having a few get togethers over the holidays and will be hosting Christmas this year so I wanted something special to offer guests to drink. I kept it family friendly and created this easy Sparkling Holiday Punch.
- 3 cups apple juice
- 3 cups sparkling white grape juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 12 cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 6 cups cranberry juice
- 3 cups Canada Dry Gingerale
- In a medium sauce pan combine apple juice, sparkling white grape juice, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Bring to a low simmer and keep simmering for 15 minutes.
- Strain to remove cloves and bits of spice.
- Pour into a large pitcher and add cranberry juice and Canada Dry Ginger Ale.
- Place pitcher in refrigerator to chill and then serve.
The spices smell like the holidays when they are simmering on the stove and add a warm flavor to the punch and pair perfectly with the sweetness of the juices and is finished off with the crisp ginger ale. The gorgeous rich red color looks like a party in a glass. As I mentioned, we are celebrating Christmas and New Year’s with the kids this year so I did not add any alcohol but you could definitely make this an adult cocktail with a bit of vodka. Perfect for toasting at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
The drink is sweet with a hint of spice and would pair well with a spicy dip or an elegant cheese tray. The punch will look pretty sitting in a pitcher or punch bowl with it’s party ready color and you could make it even more festive by using ice cubes in holiday shapes. For added color, thin orange slices would look beautiful floating in the bowl or pitcher and would add another layer of flavor to the punch. Add cinnamon sticks to a pretty glass to serve as stirrers for the punch. If you’re having kids at your party too, you could even use a red candy vine and tie a red bow around the cinnamon stick.
I hope your holiday season is surrounded with those dearest to you and whether you’re celebrating with the kiddos or having a party it’s simple to put something delicious and pretty in your glass with this Spiced Sparkling Holiday Punch. Have a safe and happy holidays!
