Hi! Melanie here again from Garnish & Glaze. So it’s not even March and I’m dying for summer weather! This Strawberry Orange Smoothie makes life a little better and feel like it’s summer for a few minutes. Oh I’m just so looking forward to going on walks and taking my daughter to the park. By the end of the day we are both sick of being in our little apartment. The days we go to the mall, play ground, grocery store, or Costco are so much more enjoyable… and our home stays cleaner too.
Anyway, this orange smoothie also has helped me stay healthy and balance out all those delicious desserts I’ve been eating way too much of. New Years resolutions didn’t last too long in my home. Actually, my husband has been doing awesome but I still can’t seem to give up my nightly serving of ice cream. It’s bad guys. Some might call it an addiction!
But back to this smoothie. It’s made with all fresh ingredients making it feel all summery and healthy. I had lots of fresh produce I needed to use up when I made this but frozen berries and bananas work too. Speaking of bananas, they are the key to making any smoothie delicious. They add creaminess and a natural sweetness. Such a great way to use up those ripe bananas.
The other thing I always like to put in a smoothie is non-fat yogurt. It’s a healthier alternative to frozen yogurt but still adds creaminess and sweetness. Can you tell I like my smoothies creamy and sweet?
You can put orange juice in the smoothie or just throw in the whole thing if you don’t mind a little pulp. I didn’t have orange juice on hand and was lazy so I threw the whole thing in. It was quite tasty and added more fiber.
This is such an easy breakfast or snack to throw together. Plus, it’s healthy! For half the recipe you get a tall smoothie for 250 calories, 1 gram fat, 6 grams protein, 8 grams fiber and 235% vitamin C. Pretty sweet! Enjoy!
